Mrs. Prater was born Anita Maria Messer on Feb. 4, 1924, at Giessen, Germany. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Paul; and a son, Raymond M., in 1958.

Survivors include her husband, Elbert; two sons, Henry F. of Salina and Richard J. of New York City; two daughters, Margaret Kugler and her husband, Doug, of Abilene and Barbara Danielson and her husband, Mike, of Choctaw, Okla.; four grandchildren, Lara Kugler Nichols and her husband, John, of Pocatello, Idaho, Katie Kugler Hess and her husband, Andy, of Abilene, Braton Danielson and Zane Danielson of Choctaw; three great-grandchildren, Grace and Ted Nichols of Pocatello and Claudia Hess of Abilene; and cousins in Germany.

A private family service will be at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina 67401, with the Rev. John Wolesky officiating. Inurnment will be later in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Katie Hess Cancer Fund, in care of First National Bank, Abilene.
