James J. Wilson
September 30, 1926 - November 19, 2003

James J. Wilson, 77, Salina, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003.

Mr. Wilson was born Sept. 30, 1926, at Carlton. He was a retired district manager for National Life and Accident Co. He was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church and Sunrise Mariners and was a past governor of the Salina Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He married the former Norma R. Denney on April 11, 1953, in Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew C. and Dora Amman Wilson; a great-granddaughter, Mystique Bird in 1997; and three sisters, Cecelia Fitch in 2003, Mildred Fairbanks in 2003 and Merle Duncan in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Denney Wilson; two daughters, Kathy Burroughs and husband Craig of Hutchinson and Karen Vidricksen and husband Benjamin II of Salina; three sisters, Bernice "Bunny" Pappas and Evaline "Evy" Cochran, both of Newport Richy, Fla., and Grace Burkle of Salina; four brothers, Homer Wilson and wife Cleta of Topeka, Marvin Wilson and wife Naomi of Yorba Linda, Calif., Donald Wilson and wife Barbara of Sun City, Ariz., and Bruce Wilson of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina, the Rev. Don Hammerli officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
