Norman J. Asman

Norman J. Asman, 72, Salina, died Friday, March 26, 2004.

Mr. Asman was born April 21, 1931, in Appleton, Wis. He was corporate packaging manager for Schwan's Sales. He was a member of First Christian Church, Salina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1432 and the American Gunsmithing Association. He was a radarman, serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He loved hunting, fishing, gunsmithing and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and John Asman; a brother, Vern Asman; and a sister, Vera Blondey.

He married the former Garland L. (Wilson) Alley on Nov. 28, 1986, at First Christian Church, Salina.

Survivors include his wife, Garland Asman of Salina; a son, Derk Asman of Springfield, Mo.; two stepsons, Mike Alley of Salina and Dan Alley and wife Sue of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Becky Kauth of Appleton; a stepdaughter, Debbi Racobs of Kingwood, Texas; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Kauth and Tony Kauth, both of Appleton; four stepgrandchildren, Laura Racobs of Kingwood, Nicki Alley of Tucson, Michael M. Alley of Salina and Amy Shanks and husband Ron of Eudora; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kyle Shanks and Kolbi Shanks, both of Eudora.

The Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Salina, the Revs. Kim and Greg Rea officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
