Edgar "Ed" Doll, 88, Salina, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004. Mr. Doll was born Dec. 17, 1915, near Lincoln. He was a truck driver for Western Star Mill and Salina Concrete, both of Salina. He was a member of University United Methodist Church, Jolly Mixers, Golden Age Club, Moose Lodge and Midwestern Polka Club. He served in the Merchant Marine and later in the U.S. Army in World War II. He loved to dance and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He married Leola M. "Tiny" Taylor on Dec. 24, 1938, at Lincoln. To this union, Ray and Marilyn Doll were born. He married Gladys M. Fry in January 1997. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leola M. "Tiny" in 1996; his second wife, Gladys M., in 2000; his parents, Charles and Margaret Doll; two brothers, Bill and Ted; and two sisters, Donia Markley and Marjorie Bunch. Survivors include a son, Ray Doll and wife Dorothy of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Marilyn Dugger and husband Paul of Wichita; three stepsons, Ronald Fry of Daleville, Ala., S. Earl Fry of Salina and Steven Fry; two stepdaughters, Rita Thompson of Salina and Linda James of Assaria; a brother, George of Salina; a sister, Edith Wild of Wichita; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Sam D. Hartzler officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. |
