Charlotte H. Evans, 74, Salina, died Sunday, May 2, 2004. Mrs. Evans was born Charlotte PhiDelia Holly on April 7, 1930, in Reading Center, N.Y. She was a pastor's wife and served 15 years as a missionary in the Philippines and in congregations in Springdale, Ark., and Smith Center. She was a food service worker for the Salina School District and was a volunteer for Heartland Programs. She was a graduate of Watkins Glenn High School, N.Y., in 1948 and Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., in 1952. She married Robert Louis Evans on Aug. 25, 1953, at her parents' home in Reading Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay B. Holly and the former Mildred Smith; her husband, the Rev. Robert Louis Evans, in 1991; a brother, Roger Holly; and a niece JoAnna Abbott. Survivors include a son, Roger Evans of Wichita; a brother, David Holly of Tecumseh, Mich.; five grandchildren; and three nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fellowship Baptist Church, Salina, the Rev. Garlen Howington officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
