Richard F. "Dick" Hemmy Jr., 65, of Salina, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004. Mr. Hemmy was born March 22, 1939, at Salina. He worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Sampson Construction, Elmore Dairy and Graves Truckline, all of Salina. He then worked for North American Philips Lighting in Salina for over 36 years, retiring in 2003. He also was a real estate broker in Salina since 1981 and was co-owner of Northstar Leasing LLC, both of Salina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elverda Marian Hemmy in 2000; and three sisters, Janice Brown, Darlene Williams and Jolene Hemmy. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte of the home; two sons, Ronald Hemmy of Dunedin, Fla., and Richard F. Hemmy III of Salina; two daughters, Sandra Hemmy of Solomon and Cynthia Nelson of New Cambria; a stepson, Darwin Wycoff of Salina; a stepdaughter, Lisa Markley of Salina; his father, Richard E. Hemmy Sr. of Salina; six brothers, Larry, Paul, Jim, Bill and Jerry, all of Salina, and John of Bennington; five sisters, Rosemary Divilbliss of Salina, Carolyn Grout and Joyce Hemmy, both of Shawnee Mission, and Marilyn Edwards and Barbara March, both of Martinez, Ga.; and eight grandchildren. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A vigil/rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Memorials may be made to Cancer Center of Kansas at Salina or Hospice of Salina. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. |
