Everett Wesley Jukes, 88, Salina, died Monday, November 22, 2004. Mr. Jukes was born Jan. 30, 1916, in Salina. He was a Union Pacific Railroad conductor and brakeman, retiring in 1980. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina, was past president of Union Pacific Jr. Oldtimers and was a Golden Gloves boxer. He was a 1936 graduate of Salina High School and was a member of the high school football team. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace A., in 1993; a son, Donald Wesley Jukes, in 1970; and a daughter, Karla Jean Jukes, in 1964. Survivors include a son, Ed Jukes of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Karma Tidemann of Valley Center; a sister, Lucille McKeown of Valley Center; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
