Estelle S. Kitchel
March 17, 1926 - September 6, 2004

Phoenix, AZ. -- Estelle Stewart Kitchel, 78, Phoenix, formerly of Salina, died Monday, September 6, 2004.

Mrs. Kitchel was born Lucile Estelle Stewart on March 17, 1926 at Wichita, Kansas to Norton T. Stewart and the former Lucile Goss. She worked as a recreation director for the City of Phoenix for 13 years, retiring in 1973. She graduated form Salina High School in 1943; Christian College of Columbia, Missouri in 1945; received a BA in French from the University of Kansas in 1947; and a masters degree in Public Recreation from the University of Minnesota in 1951. She was a member of AAUW and the Foothills Christian Church in Glendale, AZ.

Estelle and John C. Kitchel were married on August 20, 1964 at Salina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Kitchel in 1992 and a daughter, Grace Lucile Kitchel in 1990.

Survivors include two brothers, Jack Stewart of Salina, and Emet Stewart of Littleton, Colorado; and a granddaughter, Brittany Elaine Krauch of Phoenix, AZ.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 22nd at the Foothills Christian Church, 3951 W. Happy Valley Road, Glendale, AZ 85310. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.

Memorials may be made to the Foothills Christian Church in Glendale or the First Christian Church, Salina in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

There will be no visitation.
