George Abraham Lamone
April 21, 1908 - May 27, 2004

George Abraham Lamone, 96, of Salina, died Thursday May 27, 2004.

Mr. Lamone was born April 21, 1908, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the manager of E.G. Stevens Candy and Tobacco Co., and in 1957 he founded the Lamone Candy and Tobacco Co. He was a member of the Albert Pike No. 393 Masonic Lodge, Wichita, was a Scottish Rite Consistory and Isis Shrine Temple member, both of Salina. He also was a member of the Isis Oriental Band.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ann, in 2000; a son, Gregory; and a sister, Josephine.

Survivors include son John and wife Donna Lamone of Clifton, Va., son Thomas and wife Peggy Lamone of Falls Church, Va.; daughter Barbara Dolan of Palm Springs, Calif.; son Michael and wife Bobbie Lamone of Salina; sister Mabel Ellis of Sioux City, Iowa; brother Ray and wife Lola Lamone of Wichita; sister, Esther and husband Richard Henry of Wichita; sister Mona and husband George Kaleel of Amboy, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church, Salina, the Very Rev. Timothy Cline officiating.

Memorials may be made to the church.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
