Mr. Leitner was born January 30, 1927, in Merced, Calif. He was a retired banker. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of the home; a son, Gary of Olathe; two daughters, Cindy Tieperman of Plano, Texas, and Shari Johnson of Concordia; a sister, Darla Mather of Sharon Springs; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Church of Bennington. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Goodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or Ottawa County Hospice.
