Arron "Basil" McKee
May 28, 1913 - July 9, 2004

Arron "Basil" McKee, 91, Salina, died Friday, July 9, 2004.

Mr. McKee was born May 28, 1913, in Havensville to Willard and Cressie (Slater) McKee. He graduated from Havensville High School in 1930. He worked in the grocery business all of his life and was the owner of McKee's IGA in Blue Rapids from 1942 until retiring in 1971. He served in the Navy from 1944-1945 in the Pacific and has been a lifetime member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blue Rapids, and was an active attendee of Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina. Mr. McKee was married to Rheva Mae Fairbanks on July 12, 1936.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis and Dallas; and a sister, Irene Andre.

Survivors include his wife, Rheva of the home; a son, Jerry and wife Rosie McKee of Salina; four grandchildren, Brad McKee of Holbrook, Neb., Roxie Hess and husband Roger of Bixby, Okla., and Corey and Ryan McKee, both of Salina; and three great-grandchildren, Rylan, Rylee and Ryker Hess, all of Bixby, Okla.

The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. in Fairmont Cemetery, Blue Rapids.

Memorials may be made to Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina, or United Presbyterian Church, Blue Rapids.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
