Donna L. Miles
May 25, 1941 - May 19, 2004

Donna L. Miles, 62 Salina, beloved wife, mother and grandmother died May 19, 2004 of ovarian cancer.

Mrs. Miles was born Donna Lea VanGieson May 25, 1941 in Wichita. She grew up on the family farm near Norwich. She married Larry D. Miles from the neighboring community of Milton on September 3, 1961.

She was a graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in Home Economics Education. Upon graduation in 1963 she was employed by KSU to set up the new Nuclear Engineering Department Library. She was a homemaker and later worked as a secretary to the loan officer at Planters State Bank. After retirement from the bank she joined her husband as a contract driver for Eldorado National Bus Company.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, American Association of University Women, and the Engineers Wives Auxiliary of the Smoky Valley Chapter of the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers. She was an avid fisherman and golfer. She was a past member of the ladies golf associations of all of Salina’s three golf courses. She was active in junior golf in Salina for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Kathleen VanGieson.

Survivors include her husband, Larry of Salina; a daughter Michelle Ross and husband Kelly of Wichita; a son Tim of Salina; a Brother Roland VanGieson of Wichita; a sister Enid Rust of Sandy, Utah; a brother Brian VanGieson of Norwich; and 5 grandchildren Tyler Pendergraft, Allison Pendergraft, Kody Ross, Morgan Miles and Madison Miles.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. May 22, 2004 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina. The family will receive visitors at the church following the service. Inurnment will be a private family service at Eden Cemetery near Milton, Kansas. The family will receive visitors at the Milton Baptist Church 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. May 22. There will be no visitation, the body was cremated.\

Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or Hospice of Salina.
