| Raymond L. Nelson | June 13, 1929 - November 14, 2004 |
Raymond L. Nelson, 75, Salina, formerly of Junction City, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004. Mr. Nelson was born June 13, 1929, in Moline, Ill. He was a 20-year veteran of the Army Big Red One, formerly of Junction City. He was a master sergeant serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was awarded the Medal of Honor. After retirement, he worked in maintenance at Kansas State University-Manhattan. His wife, Marion A., died in 2000. Survivors include two sons, James D. of Milan, Ill., and Larry L. of Salina; and five grandchildren. There will be no services or visitation. The body will be cremated. Inurnment will be private in the Fort Riley Post Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Earl C. Gormley American Legion Post 45, 201 E. Fourth, Junction City, 66441. Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth, Salina, is handling arrangements. |
