Joseph F. Panna
December 22, 1929 - February 7, 2004

Joseph F. Panna, 74, Salina, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004.

Mr. Panna was born December 22, 1929, at Forrest City, PA. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Panna spent four years in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Following the Army, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force which took him to numerous Air Force bases around the world and the United States. He became a supreme baker and pastry chef and was often called upon by his commanding officers to create desserts for Military V.I.P.'s, foreign dignitaries, and heads of state.

Survivors include three daughters, Stella Adkins and Darlene Hoeffner, both of Salina, and Marilee Panna of Cincinnati; two sisters, Cecilia Gudusky of Levitown, PA, and Rita Sanrocco of Mt. Holly, NJ; six grandchildren, Michael Reid, Rebecca Adkins and David and Rachel Hoeffner, all of Salina, Jennifer Adkins of Junction City, and Joseph Hoeffner of Kansas City, KS; and a sister-in-law, Lois Rickard of Elmira, NY.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401. Inurnment will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the St. John's Military School Football Program.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
