Forrest W. Pettey

Forrest W. Pettey, 89, Salina, died Saturday, September 4, 2004.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1914, in Clay Center. He was a public accountant and worked as an accountant for Stevenson's Clothing, Salina, and Jack Baker Accounting Service. He was a graduate of Kansas State University and a member of the Cat Backer's Club. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific theater. He was active in the Salina Salvation Army, Salina Elks Lodge No. 718 and Salina Rotary Club and was a former treasurer of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise, in 1977; and his parents, Fred Oliver and Leda (Merten) Pettey.

Survivors include a son, Jim of Los Angeles; a daughter, Lynda Woodard of Estes Park, Colo.; a sister, Phyllis Schroeder of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Stacie Swearngin of Kansas City and Michael Swearngin of St. Louis.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Salina. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
