Mrs. Schneider was born Judith L. Curl on Nov. 16, 1946 in Joliet, Ill. She was a computer consultant and a Saline County Sheriff's Department deputy.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of the home; two sons, Garry Bird of Prattville, Ala. and Scott Bird of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Lora Hanstein of Hamden, Conn.; five grandchildren; and 19 step grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Cathedral, Salina with the Rev. Timothy Kline officiating. A private inurnment will be in the Christ Cathedral Columbarium, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Judith L. Schneider Grandchildren Scholarship Fund.
