Mrs. Waldschmidt was born Hermenia L. Younger on Aug. 16, 1911, in Cheyenne Wells, Colo. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John G., in 2003; two sons, Herbert Paul and Melvin Thomas; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include three sons, John of Camp Verdi, Ariz., Bernard of Salina and Don of Apache Junction, Ariz.; three daughters, Janeth Byer of Salina, Bernita Powell of Danville, Va., and Leveda Peters of Jonesbough, Texas; a brother, Ben Younger of Byers, Colo.; three sisters, Eleanor Sexson of Hays and Agnes Firkus and Virginia Dornell, both of Denver; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
