Ronald "Ron" Watters, 71, passed away peacefully with all his family at his side Sunday August 22, 2004. He was born August 28, 1932 in Salina. KS to Agnes and Cloyce Watters; attended Brookville High School, graduated in 1950 and graduated from Kansas State University in 1954. He was a lieutenant in the Air Force 1954-56. This is where he met the love of his life, Jean Schenk. They married June 8th, 1957 and were married 48 action packed years. He then went to work for Mobil Oil in Omaha, NE and Chicago, IL where their oldest child Paula was born. To give his family the quality upbringing he had, they moved to Colby, KS where he was Vice President of Service Oil for 40 years. It was in Colby that Kevin, Laura and Aaron were born. He is survived by his wife Jean, Brookville, his four children Paula and her husband Michael Jones of Russell, Kansas, Kevin Watters of Arkansas City, Kansas, Laura and husband Dan Barnett of Dallas, Texas and Aaron and wife Jayne Watters of Arkansas City, Kansas and seven grandchildren: Courtney and Christopher Jones, Amelia "Mia" Barnett, Colby, Calley, Colton and Cassey Watters. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the 25th at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. We will be celebrating his life at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26th at St. Joseph's Church in Brookville, KS. Burial will be in Brookville at Mt. Calvary Cemetery immediately following the ceremony. Memorials may be made to Brookville High School in honor of Ron Watters. Dad was one of the best "life's lessons" teachers we have ever known. Everything he did was out of consideration for others. The valuable lessons he taught all of us will be remembered and passed down for several generations by both family and friends. This is out of undying love and consideration for you Dad... |
