Juanita E. Berger, 95, Salina, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005. Mrs. Berger was born Juanita E. Geiser on Sept. 22, 1910, in Wellston, Okla., the daughter of John Otto Geiser and the former Ellion Emma Graves. She married Willard Hawkinson in Siloam Springs, Ark., on Feb. 6, 1931. He died in 1951. She married Paul Berger in Hutchinson on May 27, 1961. He died in 1983. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Elvin Geiser; and a sister, Doris Marie Shull. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina, United Methodist Women, and PEO Chapter ED. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Asbury Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include four daughters, Marilyn Hawkinson Swearer and husband Bill of Hutchinson, Eleanor Hawkinson Lowe of Mission Hills, Jane Berger Lehmberg and husband George of Virginia Beach, Va., and Sally Berger Roper and husband Jim of Denver; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Troy Bowers officiating. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to Salina Presbyterian Manor or First United Methodist Church, Salina. There will be no visitation. |
