Carl Eugene Brown, 82, Salina, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005. Mr. Brown was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Smolan. He was a journeyman electrician for General Air and later did contract work throughout Kansas and Nebraska, including three years in Holcomb for the Sunflower Power Plant. As a youth, he did farm work in the Bavaria area and later graduated from Smolan High School. He was a farm hand for the Jack Carlin Farm before his training to become an electrician. He married Roberta Muir on Oct. 2, 1949. He was a World War II Army Medical Corp veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Edith (Pehrson) Brown; a twin brother and sister, Royce and Rose Marie Brown; a sister, Carolyn Lowrey; and a grandchild, Sarah Brown. Survivors include his wife, Roberta, of Salina; two sons, Steven Eugene and wife Connie of Des Moines, Iowa, and James Alan of Bel Aire; two daughters, Judith Louise Westall and husband Tom of Tyler, Texas, and Susan Marie Scott and husband Kelly of Carrollton, Texas; two sisters, Elaine Lundquist of Lindsborg and Marilyn Harris of Swansea, Ill.; six grandchildren, Dennis and Peggy Brown of Tavares, Fla., Lisa Brown of Overland Park, Eric Scott and Kenton Scott, both of Carrollton, Texas, and Jessica McCoy and Daniel McCoy, both of Tyler; and two stepgrandchildren, Shawn Brown of Wichita and Brandi McCoy of Massachusetts. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, the Rev. Nancy Crowl officiating. Inurnment will be Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
