Mr. Carpenter was born Feb. 3, 1967, in Kansas City, Kan. He worked as a chef in food service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann, in 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Maria Roseann Carpenter of Salina; his parents, Chuck A. and Margaret J., both of Salina; and three sisters, Caroline Yungeberg of Washington, and Cindie LaBore and Rhonda LePage of Wessington Springs, S.D.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maria Carpenter Educational Fund.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
