McPHERSON -- Earle W. Dennis, 89, McPherson, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005. Mr. Dennis was born August 19, 1916, at Casper, Wyo. He worked as a commercial and industrial plumber and pipefitter in Colorado, Kansas and Florida. He was a WW II Army veteran as a 1st Lieutenant with the Second Engineers Special Brigade. He won the Scott Trophy for marksmanship large bore rifle at Camp Perry, Ohio, in 1938. He was a lifetime member of the Plumber & Pipefitters Union No. 3, the VFW Post 1342 of Salina, the American Legion No. 58 of Topeka, D.A.V. No. 11 of Salina and AARP. He was an unofficial member of the Applebee’s team of McPherson since their opening in 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty E., in 1984; and his second wife, Frances, in 2000. Survivors include a son, Ret. Lt. Col. Earl W. Dennis Jr. and wife Pat of Ellenton, Fla.; a daughter, Susie Walker and husband Larry of McPherson; a sister, Rosemary Price of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; two grandchildren, Michael Walker of Lenexa and Douglas Dennis of Loveland, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Taron Snyder and Jace Walker, both of Lenexa and Starr Dennis of Loveland. A private family graveside inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Loving Care of McPherson, 1411 Dover Road, McPherson 67460. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N.
