Vern R. Halsey, 69, Salina, died Saturday, December 10, 2005. Mr. Halsey was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio. He was the building and grounds engineer for First Church of the Nazarene, Salina. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his mother and stepfather, Eva and Jerome DeVault. Survivors include his wife, Rose Anne “Rosie,” of the home; six children, Roberta Fears, Brenda Halsey and Kimberley Halsey, all of Salina, Tim Harkin and wife Silke of Brandon, Fla., Dawn Mamoth of Dallas and Melanie Harkin of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, Christopher Fears, David Johnson, Brandy Davis and Amber Halsey, all of Salina, Paul Fears of Astoria, N.Y., Lauren Hull of Dallas and Craig Harkin of Brandon; and two great-grandchildren, Khalil Fears of California and Jacob Payne of Dallas. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, the church or Hospice of Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. |
