Mrs. Hein was born Margaret Jean Anderson on August 5, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She was a researcher with the Center for Applied Urban Research at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a banker with First National Bank in Manhattan, Kansas. Mrs. Hein was with Country Cousins in Concordia for several years.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Charles R., of Concordia; a daughter, Jennifer, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; a son Chuck of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Cathy Moore of Morning Sun, Iowa, and Mary Kelly of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Hein was a member of the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters. While in Concordia, she was a member of the Improvement Club and the Atheneum Club.

A private family service was held. Mrs. Hein was an organ donor and was cremated.
