Mrs. Helm was born Evelyn D. McAvoy on Nov. 19, 1916, in Kinzua, Pa. She worked as a nurse's aide for Salina Regional Health Center and also in private home health care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wylie G., in 1985; a son, stillborn baby Helm, in 1941; a daughter, Melanie Rodriguez, in 1973; and a great-grandchild in 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Wylene Huff and Karen Armstrong, both of Salina; a sister, Winona Farr of Sheffield, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Vidricksen, Robin Crawford, Debra Armstrong, Teresa Taylor, Tamara Shirack, Angela Leal, Aleasa Packer, Cinderella Packer, Christina Montano and Wylie "Roddy" Rodriguez; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.
