Mr. Holcom was born Feb. 20, 1935 at Solomon, Ks. He was a retired partner with R & J Holcom Cement Contractors, Salina. After his retirement from cement contracting, he worked for the City of Salina Utilities Department.

He married Betty J. Swisher on Nov. 1, 1952, at Minneapolis.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; a son, Jack and his wife Stacie of Shawnee, KS.; two daughters, Mary Lyman and husband, Randy of Keller, Texas and Barb Holcom of Minneapolis, KS.(moving to Salina); a brother, Arthur and wife, Phyllis of Cherry Valley, California; a sister, Norma Hammett of Salina; ten grandchildren, Alyssa Jennings, Dusty Lyman, Cody W. Holcom, Chesna Koeppllin, Cole Holcom, John Koepplin, Rick Allen, Bryston Allen, Tyler Holcom and Tess Holcom; a great-granddaughter, Haley Jennings.

A graveside & inurnment service will be at 3 pm on Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 at the Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum, with Rev. Brenda Stalbaum-Martin officiating.
