Evylena May Joseph, 93, Salina, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005. Mrs. Joseph was born Evylena M. Baker on May 22, 1912, in Athens, Ala., the daughter of DeWitt Everett Baker and Viola (Carter) Baker. She was a beauty shop owner and served for 12 years on the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology. She had worked as a secretary in the insurance and adjusting offices of Dodge Insurance Agency and Gib Wenger Real Estate. She was a member of the Kansas Cosmetologist Association, National Interstate Council States Boards of Cosmetology and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. She married Harry Elmer Joseph on Aug. 30, 1930, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Harry Elmer Joseph, in 1981, and Clarence F. Green, in 1989. Survivors include a son-in-law, Robert D. Kimbel of Salina; a grandson, Robert Joseph Kimbel of New Cambria; a granddaughter, Lori Ann Lewis of Tulsa, Okla.; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be a private service. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. There will be no visitation. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, is handling arrangements. |
