Madeleine W. King, 88, Salina, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005. Mrs. King was born Madeleine W. Newman on July 3, 1916, in Culver. She attended Culver High School and Salina Beauty Academy. She was a beautician and homemaker. She married Clyde King in Salina in 1951. She enjoyed sewing children's western outfits and crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed RV travel with her husband Clyde to California, Canada and Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Gawith; her second husband, Clyde King; her parents, Otta and Flow (Dickey) Newman; two sons, Bobby Dale Gawith and Joe Gawith; a stepson, Duane King; a stepdaughter, Bonnie King; a brother, Charles Dickey; and a sister, Marguerite Walters. Survivors include a son, Charles Kenneth Gawith and wife Earlene of Salina; 11 grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Inurnment will be in Bennington Cemetery, Bennington. Memorials may be made to CLC Salina. There will be no visitation. |
