ORLANDO, Okla. — Floyd Benjamin Liby, 86, Orlando, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005. Mr. Liby was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Niles, Kan., to Ora Jacob and Dicy (Patterson) Liby. He joined the Kansas Highway Department in 1967, before transferring to the Parks and Recreation Department, where he retired. He served in World War II and was a lifetime member and past post commander of VFW 3201 in Minneapolis, Kan. He also worked for the civil service at Schilling Air Force Base and spent two years at Glasgow Air Force Base in Montana. He married Lillian Lucille Cassel in February 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elva Marie Perry; his second wife, Lillian Liby; an infant son, Ivan Dale; two brothers, Vernon and Bill; and four sisters, Grace, Genevieve, Lottie and Florence. Survivors include two sons, David of Orlando and Richard and wife Paula of Grand Island, Neb.; a brother, Clarence and wife Lela of Salina, Kan.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Doug Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 3201, Minneapolis, or VFW Post 1432, Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. |
