SEARCY, Ark. -- Lyle E. Lightfoot, 84, Searcy, formerly of Salina, Kan., died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005. Mr. Lightfoot was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan. He married Anna Mae Pennick in 1944. She died in 1992. From 1975 to 1989, the Lightfoots were owners and operators of LyAnn Boarding Kennels in Salina. He received a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering in 1945 from Iowa State University, Ames. He was a registered architect in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Minnesota and Nebraska and held certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Board. He was a past member of the American Institute of Architects and the Missouri Association of Registered Architects. In 1966, he moved to Salina from Omaha, Neb. He was an associate and chief architect for Bucher & Willis, Salina, from 1966 to 1975. From 1975 to 1984, he owned Lightfoot Architects, Salina. He was a past member of Masonic Lodge 60, AMBUCS and Elks Lodge. He served on the Salina City Planning Commission, Saline County Commission on Aging, Salina Accessibility Board, Area Agency on Aging, Salina Chamber of Commerce, St. John’s Hospital Foundation, Central Kansas Foundation, American Red Cross, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Older Kansans Foundation. He attended First Church of the Nazarene, Salina. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Thelma Mason of Searcy; two nieces, Melody Ransom of Searcy and Susie Mizell of Kansas City, Mo.; and a nephew, Tim Pennick. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina 67401, the Rev. Jon Fillipi officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to the Salina Animal Shelter. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
