Sharon Amanda Melko
March 12, 1942 - August 31, 2005

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Sharon Amanda Melko, 63, Cheyenne, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005.

Mrs. Melko was born Sharon Amanda Patterson on March 12, 1942, in Salina, Kan. She was a receptionist/bookkeeper for Rogers & Rogers law firm, retiring in 2004. Before that, she worked for AT&T in Salina, Cities Service Gas Co. and Touche Ross in Oklahoma City, and the Wyoming Employees Federal Credit Union in Cheyenne. She was a member and current president of the Cheyenne Luncheon Optimist Club and was a past lieutenant governor of the Colorado/Wyoming Optimist District No. 25.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Imogenen Patterson; and by foreign exchange student Rocio Torres of Mexico City.

Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Edward, of the home; a sister, M. Kay Hedges of Oklahoma City; a brother, John Patterson of Dallas; a son, Scott Bailey of Blountstown, Fla.; a daughter, Kimberly Bailey of Salina; three stepsons, Stephen Melko of Aurora, Colo., Christopher Melko of The Colony, Texas, and Timothy Melko of Plano, Texas; four grandsons, Jeremy, Justin, Cameron and Braedan; a granddaughter, Amanda; two stepgrandsons, Nicholas and Zechariah; and seven foreign exchange students, Stefan Weirz of Frankfurt, Germany, Carlos Betancour of Bogota, Columbia, Sergio Tapia of Mexicali, Mexico, Lucia Papsova of Prievidza Slovakia, Alejandro Camargo of Ensenada, Mexico, Fil Turcer of Prievidza, Slovakia, and Cheyenne, and AnnMarie Dick of Munich, Germany.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Salina, the Rev. Troy Bowers officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
