Mr. Newell was born Oct. 18, 1951, in Hays. He was a tool crib coordinator for Beech Aircraft Corp., Salina.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emile Newell, in 1985; his mother, Alfreda Newell, in 1995; a brother, Duane "Blackie" Newell, in 1982; and a sister, Annette Hollingsworth, in 2004.

Survivors include two brothers, Nelson of Salina and LeRoy "Red" of Norton; and three sisters, Harriet Meyers of Holdredge, Neb., Lavina Mispagel of Olathe and Janet Gross of Salina.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Damar, the Revs. Don McCarthy and Bill Kilian officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Damar.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
