Mrs. Phillips was born Alice Elizabeth Chegwidden on Dec. 1, 1912, rural Dorrance. She was a schoolteacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents, Harry and Carrie (Essig) Chegwidden; her brothers, John and Wesley Chegwidden; and her sisters, Bernice Oeser and Marion Swart.

Survivors include a son, Tom and wife, Sylvia of Salina; a daughter, Ferol Thielen and husband, Nick of Olathe, a grandson, Neil Thielen and wife, Jamy; three granddaughters, Tamra Mitchell and husband, Shawn, Traci Patrick and husband, Brian and Nicole Thielen; four great-grandchildren, Evan and Spencer Mitchell and Thea and Aidan Patrick; six nephews and three nieces.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina. Burial will be in Wilson City Cemetery.
