Betty Margaret Sloo, 85, Salina, formerly of Topeka and Gainesville, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005. Mrs. Sloo was born Betty Margaret Adams on Feb. 5, 1919, in Norfolk, Va. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1946. She was a secretary for the University of Florida, Gainesville. She was a member of Grace Cathedral in Topeka, Stormont-Vail Hospital Auxiliary in Topeka, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Gainesville and the Gainesville Women’s Club. She married Milo G. Sloo Jr. on Oct. 11, 1940, in Manhattan. He died in 1987. She also was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Adams. Survivors include a son, Dr. Milo G. Sloo III and wife Carol Ann of Salina; a daughter, Martha Kruckemyer and husband Dr. Alan of Salina; a brother, Raymond Adams Jr. of Fullerton, Calif.; four grandchildren, Mark Sloo and wife Mindy, Suzanne Sloo, David Kruckemyer and Brian Kruckemyer and wife Traci; and four great-grandchildren, Myranda and Ayva Sloo, Keefe Bateman and Erin Kruckemyer. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Salina Presbyterian Manor. Private inurnment will be in Christ Cathedral Columbarium, Salina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salina Presbyterian Manor, Christ Cathedral of Salina or St. Michael’s Episcopal Church of Gainesville. There will be no visitation. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, is handling arrangements. |
