Beloit -- Kenneth C. Wiens, 88, Beloit, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005. Mr. Wiens was born June 5, 1917, at Glen Elder. He was a 1935 graduate of Beloit High School and had served in the U.S. Army for three years. After his discharge, he worked at Safeway and A&P grocery stores in Beloit and California. He owned and operated grocery stores in Beloit and Salina, including Kenny’s Market on East Cloud from 1966 to 1971. He ran a film route for 10 years, delivering film for Kodak Clear Photo Co. He was a member of the Noon Optimist Club for more than 25 years and the AARP, Salina VFW Post 1432 and Salina Eagles Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ida (Ernest) Wiens; and three sisters, Pauline Seidel, Lucille McPeak and Marjorie Svoboda. Survivors include his wife, Veronica, of Beloit. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina, the Rev. Gaylen Long officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Grade School. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
