Mrs. Augustine was born Helena E. Borgerding on March 15, 1945, in Marysville. She was a teacher in the Tescott-Bennington area for many years, retiring in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie (Smith) Borgerding; and a brother, John, in 2004.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin, of the home; three sons, Ronald and wife Mary of Wichita, Chris and wife Brandy of Topeka and Tyler of Salina; a daughter, Kimberly Golden and significant other Ross Preble of Salina; four brothers, Jim and wife Jeanette of Marysville, Paul and wife Dee of Anderson, Ind., Henry and wife Marilyn of Marysville and David and wife Mary Jane of Stilwell; two sisters, Mary Cassidy and husband Sam of Home City and Irene Throm and husband Marvin of Marysville; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Borgerding of DeWitt, Neb.; and five grandchildren, Breanna Golden, Cameron Preble, Peyton Augustine, Michael Augustine and Madyson Preble.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil and rosary will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to Helena Augustine Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. The casket will remain closed.
