Mrs. Bachofer was born Phyllis Irene Marks on April 10, 1939, in Manhattan. She was a schoolteacher for the Salina School District and a social worker in Salina for many years. She also worked as an athletic secretary at Marymount College for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Neil, of the home; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hill and husband Gary of Kansas City, Mo., Brenda Marie Cameron and husband Thomas of Leawood, and Amy Irene Jones and husband Jamie of Overland Park; a brother, Edward Marks of Salina; and three grandchildren, Callie Irene Cameron, Robert Max Cameron and Theodore Michael Jones.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil, with a rosary said, will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
