TOPEKA -- Joseph A. Bachofer, 59, Topeka, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006. Mr. Bachofer was born Aug. 6, 1946, in Salina. He was a para-professional in the Topeka School District for 10 years. He previously worked as an actor and playwright and as chef for “The Loft” Showcase Dinner Theatre in Topeka. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Marymount College, both of Salina, and attended Conceptions Seminary, Conception, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Bachofer Jr., in 1988. Survivors include his mother, Virginia L. Bachofer, of Salina; three sisters, Patricia Dube and husband Roger of Thompsonville, Mich., Marilyn Vaupel and husband Bill of Salina and Judith True and husband Don of Cedar Park, Texas; four nieces and a nephew, Andrea Dube of Harrison Township, Mich., Elizabeth Dube of Sterling Heights, Mich., Jennifer Vaupel of Littleton, Colo., Ann True of Cedar Park, Texas, and Andrew Vaupel of Astoria, N.Y. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. Cremation and private inurnment will follow the services at the church. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. A memorial celebration will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at Thornton Place, 2901 S.W. Armstrong, Topeka 66614. Memorials may be made to Salina Community Theatre. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. |
