Mr. Burt was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Salina, the son of Mearl S. and Florence (Liby) Burt. He was a diesel mechanic for Schwan Sales for 23 years, retiring in 2004. He was a truck driver for Nelson Trucking and Verle Burt Heavy Hauling.

He served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969 and 1973 to 1975. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 62, Salina.

He married the former Shirley Ann Pierce on Sept. 18, 1981, in Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Verle and Billy; a sister, Laverna Lundstrom; and a daughter, Kim Rogers, in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Salina; a daughter, Amy Rundell and husband Chris of Smolan; a son, Kevin Rogers and wife Kris of Falun; two sisters, Geri Jackson of Salina and Joanna Perez of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a brother, Paul of New Cambria; and five grandchildren, Cyler, Tyler, Willie, Jacob and Kaleb.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Boy’s State Program sponsored by Leslie Krebs American Legion Post 62, Salina.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
