Mrs. Charlton was born Dorothy Marie Loder on Oct. 15, 1924, in Langley, to Lewis and Ida (Rupert) Loder. She retired after 40 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone. She married Jack Charlton in 1948.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Steven; four brothers, Paul, Leslie, Bill and Cleveland Loder; and two sisters, Viola Walton and Hazel Diamond.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; a son, Kent of Salina; a daughter, Robin Vandegrift and husband Don of Salina; two sisters, Cleta Wilson of Topeka and Joy McMillan of Missouri; six grandchildren, Michele, Justin and Shane Charlton and Braden, Audrey and Callie Vandegrift, all of Salina; and a great-grandchild, Kaylee Gardner of Salina.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Cross United Methodist, 1600 Rush, Salina. The body will be cremated.
