Mr. Engstrom was born January 27, 1909 in McPherson County, Kansas. He was president and general manager of Salina Concrete Products from 1941 until his retirement in 1974.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, serving as president in 1965 and 1966; Asbury Hospital board of trustees for 18 years serving as president in 1967 and 1968; Planters State Bank and Trust Co. board of directors for 20 years; Lions Club serving as president in 1946 and 1947; Bethany College board of trustees for three terms serving as president in 1961 and 1962 and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran board of trustees.

His hobbies included raising and training Arabian Horses. He was president of the Kansas Arabian Horse Club. He spent winters for more than 20 years in Mesa, Ariz., with his wife, Ruth.

He married Ruth Bloomquist on Oct. 18, 1936, in McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Gwin Pitts and two grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Roseann Blake and husband Dennis of Centennial, Colorado and Kathleen Shrack and husband Phil of Iuka, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 255 S. Seventh, Salina, the Rev. Kent Happel officiating. A private burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the church or Salina Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
