Earl R. "Johnny" Green

Earl R. "Johnny" Green, 82, Salina, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006.

Mr. Green was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Salina. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a self-employed linoleum mechanic. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and softball fan.

Survivors include his wife, Clena, of the home; two daughters, Dixie Hostetler of Wakefield and Debbie Christie of Mentor; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum, with military honors by Fort Riley.

Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Southeast of Saline Education Foundation or Alzheimer’s Research.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
