Mrs. Hays was born Donna Ruth Bender on May 10, 1933, in Russell. She was a homemaker and legal secretary and bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E.; an infant daughter, Susan Diane; her parents, Jacob and Natalie Dietz Bender; three sisters, Wilma Lindahl, Dorothy Walker and Arlene Gebhart; and two halfbrothers, Lawrence and William Ringler.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Jamison and husband Gary of Salina; two sisters, Viola Maxwell of Chesapeake, Va., and Luella Heim of Denison, Texas; two grandchildren, Justin and Christine Carlson, both of Salina; and a great-grandchild, Nathaniel Carlson of Salina.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church, 600 W. Prescott, Salina 67401, the Rev. Daniel Teekel officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Grand Center Cemetery, Waldo.

Memorials may be made to the church, Hospice of Salina or Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
