Larry Patrick (Pat) Mullen
September 20, 1937 - December 9, 2006

Salina, KS: Larry Patrick (Pat) Mullen age 69, passed away December 9th at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina.

Mr. Mullen was born September 20, 1937 in Salina to the late George F. and Mabel (Mike) Richards Mullen.

Pat graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended Kansas State University. He began his career working for his father at Mullen Construction Company and later became the founder of Scientific Engineering, Inc. Pat was an avid inventor; his projects included manufacturing custom machinery and parts for local businesses, a camera arm for the Space Shuttle, and building specialized nuclear reactor parts. Even in retirement, Pat kept his mind and hands busy in his machine shop at home. He enjoyed composing and playing music with his friends and recently found great joy recording a CD with his bands "Beyond Theory" and "Utter Chaos."

Pat is survived by his wife Debbie of the home, son Greg and Becky Mullen of Salina, daughter Stephanie and Charlie Thies of Olathe, and step-daughter Melissa Dawn of Salina. He was the proud grandfather of Steven and Taylor Mullen, Jacob and Leslie (Brady) Mullen of Salina, John and Kristin Thies Farnsworth of Gardner, KS, Chelsee and Katie Thies of Olathe, and Tatyana and Jayreece Jones of Salina. He is also remembered by his aunts and uncle Eileen and Rich Evans of Salina, Gladys Elgin and Vi Moore of Lindsborg.

The funeral service will be at 1:00pm Thursday at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth St. Salina, with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Brookville, KS. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Ryan Mortuary. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Jr/Sr High School or to the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center.
