Mrs. Pfanenstiel was born Fern Wiley on March 26, 1918, in Long Island. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Walter, in 2001.

Survivors include her husband, Walter, of Salina; a son, Jim and wife JoAnn of Victoria; two daughters, Anna Marie Martin and husband Richard of Liberty, Mo., and Emma Bixby and husband Daryl of Salina; her grandchildren, Mike Pfanenstiel, Mari Coppock, Kaydene Ward, Karen White, Craig Pfanenstiel, Cheri Quintanar, Curt Pfanenstiel, MacKenzie Mallon, Tyler Martin, Amy Hays, Stacy Brown, Sean, Justin and Amber Kindlesparger and Greg and Jared Bixby; 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ninth and Iron, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil will be at 8:30 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
