Mr. Schaeffer was born Aug. 27, 1945, in Salina. He worked as a pressman for Consolidated Printing for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas, in 1994, his mother, Dorothy Mae Pexa, in 2003; his father, Paul E., in 1957; and a brother, Phillip, in 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn A., of Salina; a son, Paul of King George, Va.; three daughters, Laurie Branham of Salina and Dawn M. Christiansen and Leighann Love, both of Malad, Idaho; a brother, Roy Hayden of Salina; three sisters, Tease Green of Olathe, Gretta Lytle of Abilene and Sheryl Palmer of Salina; and 11 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

There will be no visitation.
