Dorothy Schwartz

Dorothy Schwartz, 81, Salina, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006.

Mrs. Schwartz was born Dorothy Alice Shields on Sept. 7, 1925, in Columbia, Mo. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Parish Council, the Ladies Guild and was involved in many other church functions. She was a member of the PEO Chapter BW of Salina and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Kansas University.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Laurence M. Smith, in 1986.

Survivors include her husband, Albert J. Schwartz Sr., of the home; two sons, Gregory L. Smith of Wichita and Brian P. Smith of Weston, Fla.; two daughters, Laurie Ann Colahan and Alice Smith Jones, both of Salina; four stepsons, Charles J. Schwartz of Topeka, Dr. John H. Schwartz of Anchorage, Alaska, Albert John “A.J.” Schwartz of Wichita and Norbert F. Schwartz of Salina; three stepdaughters, Margaret A. “Peggy” Wallert of Lawrence, Mary E. Boman of Bonner Springs and Ethel M. Brightwell of Overland Park; a brother, John Patrick Shields of Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Ann Marie Cunningham of Wichita; 11 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil and rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the church endowment fund or Hospice of Salina.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
