Ms. Shotwell was born Joann Kathleen Heidel on Dec. 7, 1963, in Salina. She was a Salina Regional Health Center employee.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher P., in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Nathan of Meta, Mo.; a daughter, Vanessa Shotwell of Salina; her parents, Paul and Kathy Heidel, of Salina; a brother, Neal of Salina; a sister, Meri Jayne Bishop of Salina; and two nieces, Morgan Heidel and Abby Bishop.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Harry Tysen and Father John Wolesky officiating. Inurnment will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 3701 E. Crawford, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation or Girl Scouts.

There will be no visitation.
