Mr. Smith was born Nov. 20, 1917, in Carneiro. He was a farmer and dairyman. He married J. Arlene Reed on July 21, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul V. and Matilda A. Smith; his first wife, J. Arlene; a daughter, Marilyn K.; and a sister, Alice Truby. He married Vera Greenwood on Nov. 23, 1996.

Survivors include his wife, Vera, of Salina; three daughters, Rosalie Hawk of Salina, Barbara Bailey and husband Eric of Bartlesville, Okla., and Donna Woods and husband Tom of Stockton, Calif.; three sisters, Marjorie Lindstrom of Falun, Mary E. Boyle of Great Bend and Faith Singleton of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Vergene McCullick of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Susan Eberwein, Brian Bailey, Abby Chambers and Rachel Bailey; and four great-grandchildren, Adam and Kristen Eberwein, Xavier Chambers and Breckin Bailey.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina, the Rev. Greg Guy officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Culver.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
