Thomas M. Vargas

Thomas M. Vargas, 57, Salina, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006.

Mr. Vargas was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Salina. He was retired from Great Plains Manufacturing, Salina.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, life member of VFW Post 1432, DAV and AmVets, and a member of American Legion.

He was a veteran serving in the United States Marines as an E5 Sergeant, in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Charles Vargas.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas M. Vargas II of Salina and Timothy J. of Winter Park, Fla.; a daughter, Tammy S. Dresser of Tampa; four brothers, Robert, Daniel and Jerry, all of Salina, and Richard of Newton; three sisters, Mary Ellen Soto of Topeka, Marie A. Vasquez of Utuado, Puerto Rico, and Rosana Anderson of Salina; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ninth and Iron Ave., Salina. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina, with military honors by VFW Post 1432, Salina.

A vigil and rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to VFW Post 1432 or American Legion Post, both of Salina.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
